27.07.2025, 12.20 – 14.15 lub dłużej or longer Angel of Destruction, durational performance
Large educational room, 6 Kolegialna Street
The performance “Angel of Destruction” was created as an etude in the project “Laboratory of Active Culture I don’t know who Grotowski was“ and as part of the collective performance ”The night that burns the day” (Butohpolis 2025, Warsaw). However, it was designed to be a separate work of long durational performance. It was conceived in response to the Covid virus outbreak also alluding to the themes of the Holocaust and the climate crisis. In the era of ongoing wars – in Ukraine, genocide in Palestine, and other ongoing armed conflicts around the world, it seems even more timely than it was then. The look of the performer brings to mind a victim of some war, perhaps the Holocaust. The world does not learn from the mistakes of history. Wars and genocides continue. We are currently at the threshold of apocalypse, experiencing the fear of nuclear war, climate catastrophe and violation of human rights. I want to invite the audience with this simple form of communication to a state of reverie and contemplation and ask the question: where are we as humanity heading for? Man as the only species on Earth is heading for extermination and annihilation.
