About the artist
Grażyna Chmielewska is a Polish performance artist, actress, mime and butoh dancer. Between 1982 and 2001 she was a member of the Warsaw Pantomime Theatre. Her artistic practice combines physical theatre, mime, butoh dance and performance, focusing on the expressive potential of the body, presence and improvisation. For many years she has participated in interdisciplinary artistic projects and performance festivals in Poland and abroad.

Within silence, as the artist descends into the deepest layers of her inner world, images of tenderness, delicacy and quiet contemplation unfold.
Silence and Flowers is a meditation on the transience of existence and the perpetual renewal of life, unfolding in an eternal cycle.
Flowers wither… and are born again.
