Mariusz Pogonowski and the Participants of the Nowa Idea Project

About the artist

Mariusz Pogonowski is an actor, director, and theatre educator. He graduated from the Acting Department of the State Higher School of Theatre in Wrocław. Since 2000, he has been a resident actor at the Jerzy Szaniawski Dramatic Theatre in Płock and has also worked as a theatre instructor. In 2007, he founded the Per Se Theatre Association, creating a platform for collaboration between professional theatre artists and non-professional performers. His practice focuses on collaborative creation, participatory theatre, and exploring new ways of engaging audiences.

Nowa Idea is a theatre group formed by participants in a project led by Mariusz Pogonowski. Bringing together people of different ages and backgrounds, the group shares an interest in theatre as a space for collaboration, experimentation, and collective experience. Their work is based on participatory methods, inviting audiences to engage with the relationships between performance, space, and everyday life.

Nowa Idea

Nowa Idea is an interactive performance unfolding across different spaces of the museum, challenging the conventional separation between performers and audience. As visitors move through the building alongside the participants, they become part of an evolving narrative. Although their involvement requires no explicit action, their presence shapes the experience and shifts their perspective on the events taking place.

The performance blurs the boundaries between fiction and reality, raising questions about the role of the viewer, participation, and the nature of the event itself. Are we merely observers, or have we already become participants? Where does the performance end, and where does reality begin?

Director: Mariusz Pogonowski
Music: Dariusz Petera

The performance was developed in collaboration with participants of the Nowa Idea project from Płock and Drobin, together with students of the Płock Folk University (Płocki Uniwersytet Ludowy).
