Susanne Weins
About the artist
The voice and performance artist, has been living and working since 1997 in both the ‘Freie Szene Düsseldorf’ and internationally. As a Roy Hart teacher and F.M. Alexander practitioner, she is instructing at various universities. In the context of her diploma at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, she intensively explored the themes of performance, voicebody and presence. Since then, she has been a guest at various multimedia productions and festivals, and in addition to her own productions, she leads the Atelier Performative Künste as a platform for interdisciplinary productions. Having devoted herself to the philosophy of listening and its influence on physical resonances, she is transforming the very essence of human expression into a deeper profound note.

Voices imprinting flesh.Shaping organs, crafting vessels of intricate labyrinths. Filled with one-way paths and tangled knots. Echoes of voices in white noise, honey coloured sounds from afar, bitter terror or dry deserts.Yearning for the touch of cherished voices, both beloved and painful. Solid dark core of warm timbre turning into monstrous clangs or anguished screams. Other voices have names but no faces. Characters of failed socialisation, absurd attempts of adaptation.
Voices are never merely one-dimensional. If we listen, listen into the space of sounds, listen through the layers, their echoes reverberate in the deepest caverns of our souls. As the very ontology of existence.
