Inga Blix

Inga Blix

About the artist

Using her interest in photography and passion for flowers as a starting point, Inga Blix has been working on flower motifs in her tapestry for some years now. She strives to avoid the aestheticizing and idealising approach to the motif when she makes her tapestry with dyed wool, needle and thread. Instead, she seeks out the wild and chaotic sides of things that grow. Nature has its own will and agenda, and the flowers do not know that we observe them. Perhaps they observe us?
Textile artist Inga Blix (b.1956) lives and works in Hamar. She is a graduate of The Bergen School of Arts and Crafts (diploma in 1983) and California College of Arts & Crafts. She has exhibited extensively both home and abroad, and has displayed several solo exhibitions as well as public art commissions. Her work has been acquired by the Arts Council of Norway, KODE Bergen and various public art collections.
